Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Magdalena Grono to discuss the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.
Grono congratulated Aliyev on the significant progress achieved in Washington toward normalizing relations with Armenia and advancing the peace agenda. She stressed that these steps make a major contribution to ensuring lasting peace in the region.
The EU envoy noted that member states also support the peace reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, adding that the European Union is ready to assist in agreed matters, including the unblocking of transport routes.
Aliyev, for his part, highlighted the role of the United States in the peace process and reaffirmed Baku’s support for confidence-building measures with Armenia.
The talks also touched upon prospects for broader cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
