The logic of peace is that, yes, having recorded that about 200 square kilometers of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia are occupied by Azerbaijan, are under the control of Azerbaijan, we must eventually face the fact that there are sovereign territories of Azerbaijan among them, which are under our control. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan during a government briefing.
“Why should we do this, what is the reason for doing this, because we have repeatedly agreed with Azerbaijan that we recognize each other’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and inviolability of borders on the basis of the Alma Ata Declaration of 1991. And the Alma Ata Declaration clearly states that the territory of the Armenian SSR is identical to the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is identical to the territory of the Azerbaijani SSR. We have all the maps demarcating those territories, borders: both Azerbaijan has them and we have them.
By the way, the delimitation in the Kirants-Voskepar section was carried out using those maps, and further delimitation should be carried out using those maps, and in that context, this issue should be resolved.
If there is suddenly an intention, a desire to change some territories proportionally, that is, to change 1 square kilometer with another 1 square kilometer, we should approach and address the people on this issue to what extent they agree with such solutions,” he said.
