U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is currently in the planning stage.
"You know, they’ve had a difficult relationship, and now we’ll see how they manage it. If necessary—and it probably will be—I’ll go and join them," said the American President.
Trump expressed hope that Zelensky would show flexibility, while Putin would take positive steps.
The President also stated that he does not want to wait another month for the next round of talks on the Ukraine conflict and expressed optimism about a swift resolution.
“President Donald Trump has made it clear that he intends to put an end to this war. He supports ongoing dialogue on a resolution to the Ukraine crisis and rejects the idea of postponing further meetings on the matter,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during a briefing.
