Reuters. At least four people died as powerful blast partially destroyed 10-storey residential building in Saratov, Russian Volga River region on Friday (July 25).
The videos released by the Russian Ministry of Emergencies and posted on social media show the scale of destruction, emergency personnel trying to find survivors under rubble and onlookers gathering at the site of disaster.
Reuters was able to verify the location of the UGC footage from building layouts, structures and windows which matched file and satellite images. The date of the footage was verified by a statement from local authorities.
Saratov region prosecutor's office said on Telegram that an explosion of a gas-air mixture happened in an apartment building on Blinova Street.
The residents have been evacuated as the danger of further collapse remains. According to the Ministry of Emergencies' report, more than 100 personnel and 34 pieces of equipment have been deployed in search and rescue operation.
