On July 14, an official reception was held at the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, headed by Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan, with the delegation led by Public Defender of Rights of the Slovak Republic JUDr. Róbert Dobrovodský.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Public Defender of Rights of the Slovak Republic and the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia.
Welcoming the delegation, Ms. Anahit Manasyan thanked JUDr. Róbert Dobrovodský for his visit to Armenia. She presented the main functions and priorities of the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, emphasizing that in the context of global challenges, the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms requires a more consistent, professional, ethical and dedicated approach.
The Defender particularly emphasized the expansion of international cooperation and deepening of partnership in the field of human rights protection. In this context, a number of key issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, including the organization of mutual visits, exchange of experience and the implementation of joint initiatives in thematic areas.
Ms. Anahit Manasyan also presented the reforms of the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, as a result of which in 2024, the Human Rights Defender’s Institution of the Republic of Armenia was re-accredited with the "A" status, signifying its level of independence and credibility, by the UN GANHRI Accreditation Commission.
In turn, JUDr. Róbert Dobrovodský highly appreciated the activities of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia and emphasized his willingness to continue and develop partnership cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their willingness to deepen partnership relations and expand the scope of cooperation for the benefit of human rights protection.
