President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Armenia, Serenade Gamil, on the occasion of Egypt’s national holiday, Revolution Day.
According to the Presidential Office, President Khachaturyan congratulated the Ambassador, the leadership of Egypt, and the friendly people of the country on the occasion, wishing them peace, development, and success.
The President praised Ambassador Gamil’s efforts in fostering and strengthening Armenian-Egyptian relations.
“It is no coincidence that Egypt was one of the first countries to open an embassy in Armenia, and Armenia established one of its first embassies in Cairo,” the President noted.
He also emphasized the important role played by the Armenian community in Egypt in deepening these ties.
"Egypt is a friendly country for Armenia, and the relations between our peoples are rooted in a long history," said President Khachaturyan.
"Egypt and Armenia are ancient civilizations, and our peoples share many commonalities."
The President noted that the high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Egypt creates broad opportunities for expanding cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.
Ambassador Serenade Gamil expressed gratitude for the warm reception, stating, “Mr. President, it is a great honor for me to meet with you. Your warm attitude and support on the eve of our national holiday are especially meaningful. I am grateful for the consistent support you have shown throughout my diplomatic mission in Armenia, which is dedicated to the continuous development of our bilateral relations.”
The Ambassador highlighted the official visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to Armenia in early 2023, emphasizing that it gave a new impetus to strengthening Armenian-Egyptian ties and deepening cooperation. She also acknowledged the valuable contribution of the Egyptian-Armenian community to Egypt’s development.
The meeting also included discussions on the current agenda and future prospects for Armenian-Egyptian relations. President Khachaturyan expressed appreciation for Egypt’s balanced and constructive stance on Armenia’s efforts to establish peace in the region.
