Ahmed Hajiev, head of the Ural production unit of the Lukoil Group of Companies in the Urals, has been arrested and taken to court.
In Yekaterinburg, Shahin Shikhlinski, head of the “Azerbaijan-Ural” organization, was arrested. His car was stopped in the parking area of the “Baku Plaza” shopping center; security forces broke the windows and pulled him out of the vehicle.
It is reported that he was arrested along with his son, but the latter was released shortly afterward. Shikhlinski had been questioned a few days earlier during intensified inspections in Yekaterinburg.
According to local media, Shikhlinski, originally from Azerbaijan, had previously been considered a possible beneficiary in the 2001 street stabbing murder of merchant Younis Pashayev. It is reported that the arrested Shahin Shikhlinski is involved as a witness in the criminal case concerning the Safarov brothers.
In Voronezh, Azerbaijani entrepreneur and co-owner of the Alexeyevsky market, Yusif Khalilov, was arrested. Russian media refer to him as the unofficial leader of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
