“I am here with a clear message: the European Union and Armenia have never been as close as they are today,” stated EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas during a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yerevan.
Referring to the recent resolution adopted by Armenia’s National Assembly, which initiates the process of aligning more closely with the EU, Kallas emphasized that the European Union is ready to deepen its partnership with Armenia.
“I am pleased to announce that a political agreement has been reached between the negotiating parties on a new Partnership Agenda, which outlines our shared priorities in the areas of economic development, security, and resilience,” Kallas said.
She noted that under the EU’s Resilience and Growth program, the EU will allocate €270 million to Armenia for the period 2024–2027. “This support will help businesses, improve connectivity between Armenia and the European Union, and promote ongoing reform efforts,” she added.
Kallas also highlighted that EU-Armenia relations extend beyond economic ties. The EU is providing assistance to those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, including support for housing and socio-psychological services.
