On June 26, the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan participated in the Fourth Annual Conference of The Armenian Society of Fellow (ASOF), launched in Dilijan.
“Every year, famous specialists participate in this Conference. The goal is to unite people who are ready to do more for the development of science and technology,” Hakob Arshakyan said, welcoming the participants. He thanked The Armenian Society of Fellow (ASOF) for organizing the Conference, panel discussions in such a format, wishing the participants to work effectively.
The Annual Conference is a platform for presenting new ideas and projects on strategic topics for Armenia. The goal is to make Armenia a competitive country in the world scientific and technological spheres, supporting the development of capacities in the spheres of education, research and industry.
At the panel discussion on science and technology, the Chair of the Executive Committee of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Science and Technology Development Hakob Arshakyan presented the work done by the Council. He underscored that the development of high technologies plays a decisive role in the competitiveness, security and living standards of states.
8 working groups were formed: Three ‘horizontal’ - Education, Science, Industry and 5 ‘vertical’, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Teaching, Microelectronics, Advanced Robotics and Aerospace, Quantum Technology, Biotechnology and Life Sciences. Speaking about the activities of the formed working groups, it was noted that the concept of the Armenian Fund of Innovation has been compiled and put into circulation. One of the goals of the Foundation is to develop and strengthen the educational skills of the Armenian higher education institutions in the IT sphere, deepen the research potential, as well as to create a favorable environment for the development of stable business.
Reference was made to the Foundation Management Council, the state-private proportion and the format, the work of the Foundation and the reporting mechanisms.
The Professor of Brown University Nora Ayanian, The Professor of Tampere University, Finland Karen Eguiazarian, the Director of YerevaNN Hrant Khachatrian, and the Director of the Armenian Bioinformatics Institute Lilit Nersisyan participated in the panel discussion. During the exchange of ideas, the participants made their observations and proposals.
The ASOF unites 361 scientists and experts from 35 countries, specializing in more than 126 scientific destinations. This diverse community includes both promising young professionals and well-known scientists, including Nobel Laureates. At present, more than 55 of the ASOF members currently teach and carry out research activities in about 100 worldwide universities.
