The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan, the members of the Armenia-USA Friendship Group Arusyak Julhakyan, Maria Karapetyan, Gegham Nazaryan, who are on a working visit to Washington and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the United States Lilit Makunts, met with the Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Frank Pallone and the members of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The meeting was attended by the former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, the members of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Judy Chu, Jim Costa, Jake Auchincloss, Vince Fong, Robert Menendez, and Laura Friedman.
Sargis Khandanyan expressed his gratitude to the Caucus for its continued support to Armenia, as well as for facilitating the signing of the Armenia-US Strategic Partnership Charter. Nancy Pelosi, Frank Pallone, the Caucus members reaffirmed their readiness to support Armenia.
The RA NA deputies highlighted the key role of the USA in the political and economic life of Armenia, and emphasized the existing high level of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The discussion focused in detail on the security situation around Armenia, the challenges on the path to peace and the steps taken to overcome them. Both sides emphasized the need to implement the Crossroads of Peace project by the Government of Armenia for the sake of regional stability and cooperation.
Sargis Khandanyan conveyed to the Caucus members the greetings of the RA NA President Alen Simonyan, and the Head of the RA-USA Friendship Group Hayk Konjoryan and invited them to visit Armenia again in the near future.
