Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with UNESCO Secretary-General Audrey Azoulay.
The interlocutors discussed Armenia’s active involvement within UNESCO, issues related to the protection of cultural heritage in crisis situations, and the implementation of various programs.
Minister Mirzoyan noted that during this period of its membership in the UNESCO Executive Board, despite various developments and difficulties, Armenia continues to be actively involved in the implementation of initiatives in line with the organization’s mandate.
The parties exchanged views on the work of various UNESCO bodies.
The parties touched upon the programs to support Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
The interlocutors discussed the directions of Armenia-UNESCO cooperation within the framework of COP17 to be held in Armenia in the fall of 2026, taking into account UNESCO’s significant experience and mechanisms in this field.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan presented Audrey Azoulay with the Order of Friendship, which the UNESCO Secretary General was awarded by the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia, for her significant contribution to the strengthening and development of cooperation between Armenia and UNESCO and the protection of humanitarian values.
