We highly appreciate France's support for Armenia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and further strengthening of its democracy, the assistance provided by France in bilateral and European formats to Armenia's defense capabilities and strengthening of its economic resilience, the support for the expansion of the Armenia-EU partnership, and our desire to get closer to Europe. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan in his remarks at the 5th Armenia-France Decentralized Cooperation Forum Monday in Goris, Armenia.
According to the deputy foreign minister of Armenia, the holding of this forum in Goris city of Armenia’s Syunik Province is only natural and expected, taking into account the objective of developing and increasing the resilience of regions of strategic importance for Armenia, including Syunik.
"The official opening of the office of the Honorary Consul of France to be held in Goris today speaks of this clear political will. We hope that, in fulfillment of the agreement reached between our two governments, we will see the engagement of French companies in the implementation of a strategically important infrastructure project in Syunik in the near future,” Kostanyan said.
According to him, the relations between Armenia and France are at an unprecedented high level, also aiming to assist Armenia in overcoming regional challenges. The deputy foreign minister emphasized that the collaboration between the two countries continues to expand in all domains.
“The Republic of Armenia, despite all the existing challenges, is making determined efforts to establish lasting peace in the region - taking as a basis the principle of territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of borders, which Armenia and Azerbaijan have undertaken to mutually respect in the Alma Ata Declaration,” Kostanyan said.
Also, he touched upon the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and noted that Armenia is ready to sign it immediately and ratify it in the future. According to him, the clearest, most direct, and shortest way to address concerns is to sign and ratify this agreement, which, according to the Armenian deputy FM, will usher in an era of peaceful coexistence in the region.
