Russia and Ukraine have carried out the third and final exchange under the Istanbul agreement on the formula '1000 for 1000'. The parties exchanged 303 prisoners of war each, RBC reports.
Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war according to the formula “303 for 303”, the Ministry of Defense reported on its Telegram channel.
"On May 25, another 303 Russian servicemen were returned from the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime. In exchange, 303 Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners of war were transferred," the statement said.
The department specified that the Russian servicemen are currently in Belarus, where they are receiving medical and psychological assistance. Subsequently, all those exchanged will be delivered to Russia, where they will undergo treatment and rehabilitation in the medical institutions of the Ministry of Defense.
Moscow and Kyiv agreed to exchange prisoners on a "1000 for 1000" basis at talks in Istanbul. Rounds of prisoner exchanges under this agreement were also held in previous days.
“In accordance with the Russian-Ukrainian agreements reached on May 16 in Istanbul, from May 23 to 25, the Russian and Ukrainian sides carried out an exchange according to the formula “1,000 for 1,000 people,” the Ministry of Defense announced.
