Reuters. Northern France was braced for strong winds and heavy rains on Wednesday (October 9) with the country's weather authority issuing red and yellow flood warnings.
Fallout from the now downgraded Hurricane Kirk has meant 50-70mm of rain -- and locally as much as 90mm -- have fallen in some parts of the country, daily values more typical of a month, according to Meteo France.
Rain falling on already waterlogged ground could lead to flooding, Meteo France said.
In the Seine-et-Marne region east of Paris, they issued a red weather warning and local media reported school transport on Thursday was cancelled.
