The issue of delivering humanitarian aid to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh is dire at the moment. Vardan Sargsyan, the representative of the humanitarian crisis management working group in Nagorno-Karabakh, said this during a briefing in the Kornidzor border area.
He also informed that a humanitarian station was opened today in the border area of Kornidzor.
“The border area of Kornidzor, which has become a symbolic place, where the trucks are located, is regularly visited by our international partners, international media, various social and political circles, and this is a parking, arrival place where our partners can come,” he said.
Vardan Sargsyan also informed that the humanitarian cargo sent from France, which accompanied the delegation led by the Mayor of Paris, has already reached the border area of Kornidzor. Russian peacekeepers are aware of that. What kind of humanitarian aid was sent will be presented later during the press conference of the French delegation.
“We hope that the increase in international awareness, within the framework of which we can also consider, of course, the connection of this humanitarian baggage sent from friendly France to the humanitarian initiative of the Government, will give a new impulse, a new breath to this process, and it will be possible to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh in some way,” he said.
Vardan Sargsyan also emphasized that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is getting worse hour by hour, so the work is continuing so that at least the humanitarian crisis, which has a tendency to turn into a humanitarian disaster, is alleviated in some way.
Ten trucks with humanitarian cargo sent to Nagorno-Karabakh from French cities moved from Yerevan in the morning to the Kornidzor checkpoint, the starting point of the Lachin Corridor. The humanitarian aid was allocated by the the the City of Paris, the regions of Île-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France, Occitania and Pays de la Loire.
The first truck with humanitarian aid from France joined the convoy of trucks with aid sent by Armenia on August 9.
Earlier, the Government of Armenia sent 361 tons of humanitarian aid to Nagorno-Karabakh, but the convoy of trucks has been standing at the entrance to the Lachin Corridor since July 26, because Azerbaijan prohibits their entry into Nagorno-Karabakh.
