Now when Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a document with the European Union expressing their readiness to conclude a peace treaty under the terms of the Alma-Ata 1991 declaration, Moscow finds it difficult to make decisions regarding its next steps. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced in an interview with Dmitry Kiselyov.
"Alman-Ata declaration states that the borders will pass through the administrative borders of the Soviet Union, it is also about the Armenian and Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republics. The Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region was also included in the latter. The situation is multi-layer", Lavrov said.
He added that "the CSTO has prepared a plan for deploying a peacekeeping operation in this difficult situation, which is an important achievement."
"The proposal is on the table, and if our Armenian allies and friends are still interested in it, then the mission can literally be deployed within one or two days," said the Russian Foreign Minister.
