The 54-kilometer road is being built in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) with the funding of the ‘Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund, 27 kilometers of which are the Martakert-Nerkin-Horatagh-Tsaghkashen-Vardadzor-Tchankatagh road.
“The width of the roadway is 6 meters, plus one meter of sidewalls on both sides. The road is scheduled to be completed in October 2022, but we are looking forward to it sooner,” says Marat Musayelyan, Head of the Capital Construction Department of the Artsakh’s Ministry of Urban Development.
The road that is being constructed will reduce the time for travelling from Stepanakert to Martakert. There will be a completely new road of about 6.5 kilometers. Mainly earthworks have been carried out since mid-June. They plan to asphalt it in early October.
“We have all the forces and means to asphalt the road in time; we have all the means and equipment. We will manage to build the road in time,” says head of the construction Henrik Harutyunyan.
The asphalted road is an important precondition for the development of rural communities, says Ararat Khlghatyan, deputy director of the foundation. The construction is carried out by three companies, the cost is AMD 3 billion 285 million (about $ 6 million 705 thousand).
“The work is going according to schedule. At the moment, of course, there are problems that arise during the work. Due to our daily work, we discuss some issues with the contractors, if there are design changes, we organize them on the spot, and we do not hinder the further construction process,” says Ararat Khlghatyan, Deputy Director of the ‘Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund.
The President of Artsakh received Ararat Khlghatyan, discussed the progress of the programs and new projects. Arayik Harutyunyan noted that only by uniting the efforts of the Armenians it is possible to create conditions for living and creating in Artsakh.
By combining these efforts, the “Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund is also implementing large-scale housing projects in Artsakh: 1075 apartments and private houses are being built in Artsakh funded by the fund.
