The ‘100 houses in Artsakh’ program continues in Dahrav village of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). The walls of the first house, financed by the Armenian Public TV, are being built. The basics of the other 4 are ready. Quickly prefabricated wooden houses will be covered with tuff. By the end of the project, 100 families displaced by the 2020 war will live here.
“100 Homes in Artsakh project is a very important and historical program, because through this program we do not only build houses, but also through it we want to inspire faith in our compatriots in Artsakh, Armenia and the Diaspora, so that together we can implement a similar program with ordinary citizens. The course of the program is difficult, it is not easy, but we are determined, we are ready to move and to go to the end,” says Samvel Movsisyan, Co-founder of ‘100 Homes in Artsakh’ initiative.
Another displaced family in Artsakh will have its own house thanks to a donation of AM 10 million (over $20 000) from Yeremyan Projects. By the way, ‘Yeremyan Projects’ is the first commercial company to join the project.
“The whole team has joined the initiative, this funding is the contribution of our team. And we feel obliged to participate in such initiatives,” says David Yeremyan, Founder-CEO of ‘Yeremyan Projects’.
Davit Yeremyan is in Dahrav to follow the construction process and get acquainted with the possibilities of the area. He will visit when the house will be ready.
“Talking to our teammates, we said that we will definitely be present at the blessing of the house,” Davit Yeremyan says.
The ‘100 Homes in Artsakh’ project is being implemented through donations to the Living Artsakh Foundation. The Artsakh’s Government funds part of the construction.
“The Government is carrying out landscaping, earthworks, foundation work and infrastructure construction. We plan to install a night lighting network in the near future,” says Aram Sargsyan, Artsakh’s Minister of Urban Development.
Night lighting will allow builders to work longer. The district will also have a school and a kindergarten. According to Samvel Movsisyan, one of the co-founders of the ‘100 Houses in Artsakh’ initiative, they will also implement educational and economic programs in Dahrav.
“We have been insulted, it is very difficult for us, our gardens have been burned, our churches have been destroyed, but we have the strength to build. We do not give up,” Samvel Movsisyan says.
The residents of the new district are looking forward to the old residents. The children are waiting for their new friends, they will try the walnut harvest together next year.
