At the beginning of the regular sitting of the second session of the ninth convocation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, head of the 'Armenia' faction Anna Grigoryan addressed a question to NA Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, referring to the visit to Nagorno-Karabakh by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, together with several diplomats a few days ago, during which he presented Armenian cultural heritage as Albanian.
Grigoryan asked Rubinyan, as the Speaker of the Parliament of a parliamentary country, to state his position on what had happened, and inquired to what extent these steps bring closer peace.
In response, the NA Speaker emphasized: “We have said many times that the peace we have newly achieved needs constant care.”
“It is very important to develop sensitivity regarding various issues. The statements you referred to, naturally, do not contribute to or are not useful in the context of peace, apart from the fact that they are also unfounded. But, on the other hand, it is good that we are now in a state of peace, and that our disagreements or disputes concern such issues, rather than being expressed through border shootings or clashes,” the NA Speaker stated.
Rubinyan once again emphasized that his position was clear: the above-mentioned statements are not useful in the context of maintaining peace.
“This is a clear position,” the NA Speaker concluded.
