During a meeting with the Iranian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance as well as Head of Customs Administration of Iran, Foroud Asgari, within the framework of the visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), the two parties highlighted the recent measures aimed at strengthening cooperation and emphasized the need for closer cooperation on various matters in the future. Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia (SRC RA), Eduard Hakobyan, wrote about this on Facebook.
“Armenia is resolutely moving along the path of regional development, stability, and expansion of interconnectedness. In this context, I underscore the need to mutually contribute to the establishment of Armenia and Iran as important regional logistics hubs. I am convinced that cooperation is deeply beneficial for the economic growth of both countries and sustainable regional development.
At the [aforesaid] meeting, we discussed the facilitation of cross-border trade flows and control operations between Armenia and Iran, the earliest possible launch of the preliminary data exchange system, as well as the work aimed at mutual recognition of authorized economic operators.
In order to create more favorable conditions for law-abiding participants in foreign economic activity and accelerate customs procedures, we have signed a protocol on the organizing of the exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles being transported through the territories of RA and IRI (‘Simplified Customs Corridor’).
We also reached an agreement on the extension of the agreement on the joint use of the Meghri-Nurduz border gate. We also toured the Nurduz crossing point, discussing a number of matters of mutual interest,” the SRC chairman added.
