On 24 June, Ms. Anahit Manasyan delivered a video message during the panel discussion on violence against women and girls held as part of the 62nd Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.
In her message, the Human Rights Defender referred to the issues of the protection of the rights of women and girls in Armenia, emphasizing the importance of Armenia's ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
The Human Rights Defender also noted that stereotypes concerning women that persist in Armenian society hinder the protection of the rights of women and girls, as well as the interests of victims of violence.
