The naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that only the route designated by Iran is safe for commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, IRNA reports.
The IRGC Navy described the newly announced route passing near the coast of Oman as unacceptable and highly dangerous, stressing that it was introduced without the knowledge of or coordination with the Iranian authorities.
The statement warned that any commercial vessel sailing outside the designated routes would enter prohibited and potentially dangerous areas. It also noted that coordination with the IRGC Navy is mandatory for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz and must be carried out via radio communication.
The IRGC emphasized that any vessel violating these regulations will face appropriate measures.
