According to the BBC, fuel sales restrictions have already affected at least 33 regions of Russia. Problems have also emerged in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and agricultural regions, primarily in Krasnodar Krai. Restrictions have been introduced even by major companies such as Tatneft and Lukoil.
Payments are accepted only in cash, and the maximum permitted purchase is 20 liters of gasoline and 40 liters of diesel fuel.
On June 16, Interfax reported that restrictions had been introduced at all Tatneft gas stations across Russia. However, in some regions, particularly Udmurtia and the Chelyabinsk Region, the restrictions differ slightly, allowing 30 liters of gasoline and 60 liters of diesel fuel per passenger vehicle.
The problems are gradually becoming apparent in Siberia and the Russian Far East, particularly in Khabarovsk Krai.
According to the BBC, the situation has begun to trigger a wave of public discontent among citizens.
