Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan highlighted the importance of intensifying interactions between the Armenian and Azerbaijani societies for the newly established peace.
“When we talk about established peace, we must understand that the main principles have been agreed upon, and the peace agreement has been initialed, but there are still issues that need to be resolved. One of these issues is the ties between the two societies. We must also acknowledge that reconciliation takes time; it is necessary, but the absence of full reconciliation between the societies is also due to deep psychological traumas and wounds that are still very fresh. Overcoming them is a challenge and requires time,” Mirzoyan said at the Orbeli Forum 2025.
In this context, the minister noted that special attention is being given to exchanges between civil society representatives. “A few weeks ago, interactions took place between civil society representatives in Armenia. Here in this audience, we have experts from Azerbaijan. Similar events should be held in Azerbaijan, with representatives from Armenia participating. This is the way to develop dialogue between the societies as well,” Mirzoyan said.
