U.S. President Donald Trump signed a document on the Gaza ceasefire deal during the international summit hosted by Egypt in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday (October 13).
"Together we have achieved the impossible: peace finally reigns in the Middle East," Trump said, adding that from now on we will build a strong, stable, and prosperous region.
The deal was also signed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Turkish President, Tayipp Erdogan, and Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani
Trump arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh about an hour before sundown for the gathering of more than 20 world leaders, which he was to chair alongside President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Large billboards showing a beaming Trump and Sisi with the words "welcome to the land of peace" lined the road from the airport to the conference centre. In remarks after landing, Trump thanked Sisi for his role as a mediator.
