Speaking during a Government–Parliament Q&A session, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the issue of detainees and hostages remains at the forefront of Armenia’s diplomatic agenda.
“Unfortunately, we still do not have a complete and final resolution regarding the detainees, despite previously having a publicly declared commitment from the Azerbaijani side to release all of them,” Mirzoyan said.
“If two countries are sincerely saying they are working toward peace, then perhaps it is worth resolving humanitarian issues first, because these are sensitive matters, deeply painful for people,” he emphasized.
The Foreign Minister stressed that humanitarian issues, especially the release of detainees and hostages and the clarification of the fate of the missing, remain a priority for the Armenian Government.
“I consider it my duty to say that even today, humanitarian issues are at the top of our agenda, first and foremost, the release of detainees, the release of hostages, and clarifying the fate of missing persons. I assure you, this work continues even today and will certainly not stop tomorrow,” he added.
