At a meeting in Copenhagen, the foreign ministers of EU member states discussed the conditions for returning €300 billion in frozen Russian assets, noting that Ukraine must first receive compensation.
Ahead of the informal ministerial gathering, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said diplomats would not be making a decision on the 19th package of sanctions against Russia, though the issue remains on the agenda. According to Kallas, the new restrictions should compel Moscow to agree to peace on Western terms.
The EU’s High Representative added that, for now, it is impossible for the bloc to adopt even the mildest sanctions against Israel, as member states are not united on the issue.
