A discussion was held with Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan at the annual workshop, in Kapan, Armenia, of the heads of Armenia’s diplomatic missions abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
Cooperation with the other countries of the Eurasian region was discussed. The matters on the Armenia-Russia agenda were talked about, too.
The active political dialogue with the countries of the Asian and Pacific regions was emphasized, thanks to which tangible results were achieved, including in the development of strategic partnerships. Views were exchanged on the agenda of upcoming contacts, in particular with China, Japan, and India. Among other platforms, Armenia's application for membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was discussed as well.
In order to more effectively realize the potential of unblocking of regional infrastructures, new opportunities for cooperation with the countries of Central Asia and the Far East were discussed. In this context, reference was made also to the active dialogue with Kazakhstan.
Safaryan emphasized the importance of intensifying Armenia’s economic diplomacy component, especially in relations with the countries of Southeast Asia.
Views were exchanged also on current regional trends, and prospects for the development of mutually beneficial and strategic partnerships.
