Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that the country’s foreign policy is now in line with international processes.
He made the remarks at the annual ambassadorial gathering in Armenia.
“Upon studying the peculiarities of all disasters that we’ve had throughout our history, we conclude that as a rule we had eventually failed to adjust our history’s rhythm to the rhythm of international developments. And what happened in Washington means that the rhythm of our policy has become in line with certain international processes,” Pashinyan said, referring to the Washington accords signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“This is perhaps our first and real opportunity in several ages to become harmonious with international developments, and this is an extremely important record,” he added.
Pashinyan said that in the past, one of the biggest problems was what he described as elites developing the theories and narratives the country lived by, and which were then imposed upon the people.
“But now we live at a time when the opposite is taking place – the theories are developed within the people’s consciousness, articulated by the people’s representatives, and then implemented. And in this regard, it is highly important for us to fully maintain the organicity of this process,” he said.
Armenian ambassadors stationed across the world gathered in Kapan over the weekend for the annual meeting involving briefings by PM Pashinyan and FM Mirzoyan, among others.
