There can be no talk of leasing out territory. I addressed this issue during my press conference, based on the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press briefing.
“At the press conference, I spoke about the right to development, which, under our laws, is the most appropriate legal formula for implementing such projects. Syunik Province has been and will remain part of the Republic of Armenia. By the way, I believe this issue has been definitively closed by the signed declaration, as we mutually recorded that neither side — Armenia from Azerbaijan, nor Azerbaijan from Armenia — will have territorial claims.
I repeat, if we follow guesses or assumptions, anything can be said and any theory can be put forward. What should we do in this situation so that we don’t get confused or misled? We must rely on what is written, signed, and now published. After reading that text, no such question or concern can possibly arise.
As for preferential conditions for Azerbaijan, I want to draw attention to the principle of reciprocity. Even under this principle, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction cannot be violated,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Earlier, it was reported that following a trilateral meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a declaration related to Trump’s path to international prosperity and peace. The Prime Minister published the text of the declaration.
In Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, preliminarily signed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
