We have received and continue to receive various proposals, you know about all the proposals directly or indirectly. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a press conference, answering the question whether Armenia has received a proposal from the US regarding the Syunik province road, as previously announced by the US Ambassador to Turkey, and whether there are any discussions related to this proposal in Armenia.
According to Pashinyan, Armenia will not abandon its road, since the Crossroads of Peace is Armenia’s agenda, and it is Armenia that has proposed it to the world, noting that the Armenian side wants to implement it.
“We are discussing all proposals on the basis of the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan stated, recalling that this has been said every day since November 9, 2020.
According to the Prime Minister, “unfamiliar” words may be heard within the framework of the discussions, for example, the word “corridor”, which has several meanings in Armenian political discourse, which is also "allergic." In this context, Pashinyan reminded that Armenia's North-South Road is also called a "transport corridor" in official documents.
"After November 9, 2020, the word "corridor" has acquired certain allergic contexts for us, but in many cases, when our international partners say "corridor," we jump up, and they jump up in turn, saying, "but what did we say? In general, the whole world is looking for a corridor everywhere. Now, every time they say "corridor," the problem arises as to which "corridor" they mean," he said, confirming at the same time that he had received a proposal from the United States.
