Armenia's Honorary Consulate opens in Singapore

On May 16, the official inauguration ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in the Republic of Singapore took place.

The event was attended by Armenian Ambassador to Singapore Serob Bejanyan and Hon Mun Low, Director-General for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, the Armenian embassy said in a press release.

Following the official ceremony, a reception was held in the courtyard of the Armenian Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator in Singapore.

Welcoming speeches were delivered by Ambassador Serob Bejanyan, Director-General Hon Mun Low, and Mr. Tim Jin Cheng, Honorary Consul of Armenia in Singapore.

In his address, Ambassador Bejanyan emphasized the importance of establishing the Honorary Consulate, noting that it will serve as a new impetus for the further development of Armenian-Singaporean relations across various fields.

Director-General Low, in his remarks, spoke about the historical presence of the Armenian community in Singapore and their significant contribution to the country's history.

Honorary Consul Tim Jin Cheng expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and presented upcoming initiatives aimed at deepening economic and business ties between Armenia and Singapore.

The reception was attended by ambassadors accredited in Singapore, representatives of diplomatic missions and government agencies, members of the Armenian community, and business representatives.

The national anthems of Armenia and Singapore were performed by Singapore-based Armenian singer Gayane Vardanyan.

The event concluded with a flower-laying ceremony at the khachkar (Armenian cross-stone) in the church courtyard, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
