On the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
During the meeting the interlocutors exchanged views on the ongoing cooperation between Armenia and the Commission. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia commended the support from UNESCAP to the reform process in Armenia, as well as its role in advancing regional cooperation and sustainable development.
In the course of the meeting the preparatory process for the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) to be held in Yerevan in 2026 was touched upon. In this context, the importance of engagement from international partners was emphasized.
The Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated Armenia’s commitment towards the normalization of relations with the neighbouring countries and the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the region. In this context, Robert Abisoghomonyan stressed the importance of swift signing of the Peace Agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
