Contacts between me and the esteemed minister are regular, frequent, and we quite often have the opportunity to talk about bilateral relations, Armenia-EU relations, and our regional issues, but I am especially happy to welcome the minister and his delegation on the occasion of participating in the ‘Yerevan Dialogue’ event. I am sure, dear minister, your contribution to the exchange of ideas will be very valuable and we welcome it. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said this at a joint press conference with Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel.
“In February, if you remember, I had a visit to Luxembourg, and we opened our diplomatic office there, which is also a very tangible and concrete proof of how we feel about Luxembourg, and about our relationship with Luxembourg. We have already formed very good foundations for sectoral cooperation: economy, education, all other spheres, which at the moment, of course, we have to admit, are a little behind the level of our political dialogue, but the foundations are quite good,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that the cooperation is not limited to the bilateral agenda. “We have cooperation both in Luxembourg and in Armenia, with tangible positive results and constant positive attitude on various international platforms, where we often support each other's initiatives and each other's candidacies. During our meeting, we highlighted our cooperation on multilateral platforms,” he said.
Mirzoyan said that Armenia-EU relations are an important part of the agenda.
“Today, in fact, we have an official start of the Armenia-EU visa liberalization dialogue. We have the positive message from the EU about this before. We have the decision about EU support under the peace support instrument, we have the European Union mission on our border. And we have to state once again that from its place of deployment, this instrument, the mission has been quite effective in monitoring the situation and essentially providing some stability. These are only some of the tools that we have with the EU. We are working together now, we are at the stage of finalizing the agenda of forming a new partnership agenda, we are working in this direction, and I want to express my gratitude in your presence to Minister Bettel for having the clear, unequivocal support of Luxembourg during this whole time," said Armenia’s Foreign Minister.
