Moscow expects that peace will soon be established between Baku and Yerevan, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Evdokimov stated in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"Judging from the official statements of the parties, the draft peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia is almost agreed upon. As Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized during his state visit, Moscow would be happy to contribute to its signing. I hope that this will happen as soon as possible, because it will be an important step for achieving stable peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus," said the Russian diplomat.
According to him, the negotiations between the parties are proceeding according to the trilateral agreements of the heads of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan in 2020-2022. Yevdokimov also noted that in addition to the peace treaty, they refer to the unblocking of transport communications, the process of border delimitation and demarcation, and the establishment of civil society contacts.
The Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan also referred to Armenia's foreign policy, noting that it causes anxiety in Moscow.
"Cooperation with the West in the field of security, as a rule, does not lead to anything good. We are sure that any problem in the South Caucasus should be solved by the states of the region themselves, without external interference," the Russian diplomat expressed his opinion, highlighting the '3+3' regional consultation platform.
Speaking about the EU civilian mission in Armenia, Evdokimov once again repeated the idea that the European observers are busy collecting intelligence data about Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia.
