Over the past decades, Russia and Armenia have accumulated great experience of constructive cooperation in a variety of fields and their bilateral ties have been brought to a high allied level, Russian President Vladimir Putin says in a welcoming message to the participants of the Ninth Russian-Armenian Interregional Forum, which has started today in Yerevan.
"This year our countries mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance," the message says,
Putin notes that interregional cooperation is traditionally an important component of the Russian-Armenian relations. Subjects of the Russian Federation and Armenian provinces actively cooperate in economic, social, scientific, humanitarian and other areas, successfully implementing major joint projects and initiatives.
"The agenda of your forum, as always, is very rich. Representatives of authorities, business, academic and expert circles, as well as public organizations will exchange opinions on a set of issues and outline new cooperation projects in such areas as trade, investment, education, tourism and digital technologies," Putin says.
The Russian President expresses confidence that the ideas and proposals to be made at the forum will serve to strengthen the Russian-Armenian partnership and promote mutually beneficial integration processes in the Eurasian space.
The 250-member Russian delegation that arrived in Armenia to participate in the forum is led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
