On January 12, during the first meeting of the Human Rights Council (HRC) of the United Nations in Geneva, Andranik Hovhannisyan, the Permanent Representative of Armenia was elected a Vice President of HRC and the member of the Bureau for a one-year term. The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.
In this status, the Armenian Ambassador together with the partners of the HRC bureau will participate in the implementation of the organizational and operational works of the HRC.
The United Nations Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body consisting of 47 member States responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights. This is Armenia’s first term in the HRC, for a three-year period of 2020-2022.
