Heavy rainfall has triggered flash flooding along Turkey's Black Sea coast in the northern province of Samsun, inundating homes, shops and roads, state media reported Wednesday.
At least 12 people were hospitalized with minor injuries, according to state news agency Anadolu.
Several streams overflowed after torrential rain hit Samsun on Tuesday evening, Anadolu said. Vehicles were swept away by floodwater, it added.
Emergency teams continued clearing debris and mud from affected neighbourhoods on Wednesday.
Schools were suspended for one day in the hard-hit district of Havza, local authorities said.
Samsun Governor Orhan Tavli said four neighbourhoods were flooded within 10 minutes of the downpour late Tuesday, Anadolu reported.
Turkey's Black Sea region is prone to heavy rainfall and flooding. In 2021, more than 50 people died in flooding in the region's west, according to Anadolu.
