In our reality, there has historically been a perception that Armenia is located in a bad, or sometimes even a terrible, geographical position. Today, it was very symbolic to hear from EU partners that Armenia has an excellent geographical position-specifically, that it lies between East and West, or on the shortest route connecting them, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during joint statements with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
“This perhaps reflects a change in the historical period, and these formulations express that shift. While we remain in the same place (naturally, the country has not moved), as a result of political processes we are transitioning from what was once perceived as a poor-and sometimes even terrible-historical and geographical position to an excellent one.
The same geographical position that used to serve as an explanation for all our problems is now serving-and clearly should serve-the realization of the vision of having a sovereign, free, prosperous, and secure country. This is truly a historic transformation,” he said.
