Armenia has never taken and will not take any steps against the people and state of friendly Iran and will not be included in such processes. Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, stated this at a briefing with reporters today at the NA—and referring to newly appointed Iranian ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami’s statement that an idea was being formed in Tehran that Armenia was becoming the center of activity of forces hostile to Iran.
The Iranian ambassador to Armenia had considered the fact that a group of people are holding protests outside the Iranian embassy in Yerevan to be worrying.
Also, Shirgholami had expressed concern that the US may use the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project within the framework of its security policy. In this regard, Alen Simonyan noted as follows: “As for TRIPP, it will also create great economic opportunities for all countries in the region, including Iran. As for the concerns, I believe [that] after the current tension in Iran is resolved, they will see more clearly that such a thing does not exist.”
The NA speaker added that he has not yet met with the newly appointed Iranian ambassador to Armenia.
