Since mid-December 2025, Azerbaijani-produced gasoline has begun to be imported into Armenia, and it has been interesting to see what has happened in Armenia’s fuel market since these imports started, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a video posted on Facebook.
“Premium-grade gasoline is mainly being imported from Azerbaijan, and as of today the minimum price of Premium gasoline in Armenia has dropped by 15 percent. Instead of the previous 510 drams per liter, it now stands at 430 drams”, he said.
Pashinyan noted two days ago, diesel fuel was also imported from Azerbaijan to Armenia, and during this period, the minimum price of diesel on the market has already decreased by 2 percent.
“The price of Regular gasoline has also fallen by about 8 percent compared to December. That is, if on December 11 the minimum price of regular gasoline was 500 drams, it is now 460 drams. All of this is the result of the peace agenda, the outcomes of peace, and the benefits of peace”, he added.
Pashinyan emphasized that criticism exists on both sides in connection with the imports.
“In Armenia they say: you are buying gasoline and sending money to Azerbaijan so that they can use it to attack Armenia. In Azerbaijan they say: you are sending gasoline and diesel fuel to Armenia so that they can refuel their tanks and military equipment and attack Azerbaijan”, he said.
The prime minister stated that neither concern is justified, because peace has been established between Azerbaijan and Armenia. “That peace will increasingly become institutionalized, and these concerns simply have no place. It should be noted that such narratives, at least in Armenia, are being stirred up and encouraged by companies and circles that, with the support of their foreign partners, have held a monopoly in the fuel market for many years. They will be forced to lower prices, which I assume will harm those monopolies, which will in fact disappear completely, while the citizens of Armenia will benefit.
“This is peace, and we must learn to live in peace and also learn to engage with the benefits of peace, something I am pleased to note that Armenia is doing”, Nikol Pashinyan said.
