Armenia greatly highlights the cooperation with Iran in all fields, and we state with satisfaction the warm, partnership relations formed between the parliaments of the two countries. The Head of the RA NA Armenia-Iran Friendship Group Narek Babayan said this during the meeting with the delegation of the Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI).
The meeting took place on December 8, in which the member of the Friendship Group Shirak Torosyan also participated.
“Iran is a special partner-friendly state for Armenia, which promotes the establishment of peace and strengthening stability in the region by balanced policy,” Narek Babayan said.
As Head of the RA NA Armenia-Iran Friendship Group Narek Babayan underscored the importance of the parliamentary cooperation, noting that the friendship groups have a crucial role for mutual understanding and trust between the legislative bodies.
Thanking Narek Babayan for warm reception, the Member of the IRI Majlis Esmaeil Siavash noted that the two countries have numerous commonalities. He expressed conviction that the active mutual visits have their unique role in the development of bilateral relations. He also thanked the Head of the Friendship Group for providing favourable conditions aimed at spreading and teaching Persian language in Armenia.
Narek Babayan highly appreciated the respect being shown towards Armenian cultural heritage in Iran. Esmaeil Siavash also emphasized the role of the Armenian community in Iran.
Shirak Torosyan informed that he is a member of the RA NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration. He attached importance to the activation of cooperation with the relevant Committee of the Majlis of Iran.
Reference was made to the programmes aimed at deepening cooperation in all possible fields, as well as the Crossroads of Peace project initiated by the Government. Issues on organizing mutual visits were also discussed.
