Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos noted during discussions in Yerevan that the visa liberalization process is one of the key components of Armenia-EU relations. Grigoryan announced in a joint statement with Kos.
The Deputy Prime Minister described the visit of the delegation led by Marta Kos as an important opportunity to exchange views on the expanding Armenia-EU partnership and to advance the joint agenda.
According to him, the parties held productive discussions on the priorities of the Armenia-EU partnership, the next steps towards their implementation and the prospects for further deepening cooperation.
“In recent years, Armenia-EU relations have acquired a new quality and depth. We note with satisfaction that our bilateral agenda has been enriched with new and important components, including the launch of a political and security dialogue. The political agreement reached on the new agenda of our partnership is vivid evidence of this,” Grigoryan said.
He expressed hope that the new agenda would be approved by the Armenia-EU Partnership Council to be held in Brussels this year, stressing that this process would contribute to the deepening of relations and to the advancement of Armenia's democratic and economic reforms.
“In this regard, we will consistently continue our work towards the full implementation of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, emphasizing EU best practices as an integral part of our reform agenda,” Grigoryan said, adding that the Armenian government highly values the EU's consistent support as a reliable partner in strengthening Armenia's socio-economic resilience, institutional reforms and regional stability.
“We also noted that one of the key components of bilateral relations is the process of visa liberalization. We highlighted with satisfaction the progress made in this direction to date,” he noted, expressing confidence that tangible achievements would be reached through joint efforts.
Grigoryan also announced that the Armenia-EU high-level political dialogue was launched on September 19.He said that the new platform will serve to jointly discuss the implementation of multi-sector budget support within the framework of the EU Resilience and Growth Plan for Armenia, approved in April 2024.
