President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received essayist, mathematical statistician and philosopher Nassim Nicholas Taleb.
Nassim Taleb is in Armenia to attend the Science and Business Days 2023 conference organized by the Ministry of Economy.
During the informal meeting, the sides discussed philosophical concepts and ideological principles.
In his speech, the President noted that he edited the author's five-volume philosophical essay Incerto on uncertainty, which was published between 2001 and 2018 including Antifragile, Black Swan, The Bed of Procrustes, Skin in the Game, Fooled by Randomness, in which the new approaches to social, political and economic developments and events had a significant impact on the process of transforming modern political and economic thought and political constructs. The five-volume book was translated into Armenian and published at the initiative of Koghb Foundation and Antares publishing house.
During the discussion, ideas were exchanged on the concepts of peace, peaceful existence, and ideological and practical principles.
In his speech, Nassim Nicholas Taleb also touched upon the phenomenon of the Diaspora and the Armenian Diaspora in particular, noting that having a Lebanese origin, he has close relations with the representatives of the Lebanese Armenian community.
In the course of the meeting, ideas were also exchanged on the development processes of information technologies in the field of education and public life in general in the modern world. In this context, the President noted that two COAF SMART Centers are to be built in Syunik in the near future and invited the guest to visit the south of the country in case he visits Armenia in the future.
