Welcoming the members of the Council, the NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan noted that the parliamentary elections in Armenia, scheduled for June 7, 2026, will be held under the observation missions of a number of international organizations, including the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie, and the European Parliament.
“This reflects the commitment of our country to the principles of transparency and democratic standards in the electoral process,” Hakob Arshakyan noted.
According to the NA Vice President, the CIS MPA long-term mission was recently in Armenia.
“The regular invitation of the mission reflects the stable nature of the cooperation and the interest of the Armenian side in the issue of independent international assessment of the elections. The expected visit of the main delegation of the CIS IPA to Yerevan between June 4-8 will become an important part of the international monitoring,” Hakob Arshakyan underscored.
The NA Vice President also informed that in May, the PACE pre-election mission was in Armenia, whose representatives had meetings with the state bodies, parliamentary forces, non-governmental organizations and mass media. Issues regarding the electoral legislation, the pre-election situation and the organization of elections were discussed.
“In conclusion, I would like to emphasize the importance of international monitoring as one of the factors in strengthening confidence in the electoral process,” Hakob Arshakyan mentioned.
During the Council Meeting reference was also made to the current activity of the Assembly, the upcoming programmes and the main directions of cooperation.
