Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised its citizens to avoid travel to Iran due to “ongoing nationwide protests, regional tensions, a high risk of arbitrary arrest, and the unpredictable enforcement of local laws.”
At the same time, Canadian citizens currently in Iran are being urged to leave the country immediately via the land borders with Armenia and Turkey.
“Canadian passport holders do not require a visa to enter Turkey. However, they must obtain a visa upon arrival in Armenia,” Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded.
The ministry added that the ability to provide consular services in Iran is extremely limited.
