A key step is being taken in the process of normalising relations between Armenia and Turkey, as 90% of the work at the Alican border crossing has already been completed, Turkish
media report.
According to the reports, intensive work along the border is nearing completion, and entrepreneurs are beginning preparations to realise the area’s commercial potential.
Iğdır Governor Ercan Turan visited the crossing and reviewed the progress of the works. He said the goal is to open the Alican border crossing by the end of January, noting that this would fundamentally transform the region’s economy and social structure.
Preparations for the opening are continuing without interruption, the reports said.
