Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed on Wednesday that his administration is carrying out daily work to secure the release of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan.
“As for our compatriots who are in captivity or incarceration, we are working on this issue every day. If there is a view that this problem must be resolved in order to achieve peace, I would also say that the more favorable the environment between Armenia and Azerbaijan becomes, the easier it will be to resolve this issue as well. In other words, this is a matter of perspective,” the Prime Minister said at a press briefing.
Pashinyan believes that peace will resolve all other issues.
“The perception that we must resolve all issues first and only then conclude a peace agreement is absolutely incorrect. This is a living process. If we had followed that logic, we would not have reached this point in the peace process,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, this is why the government is striving to adopt the most flexible approaches possible, tailored at each moment to best serve Armenia’s national interests.
