Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan delivered a speech at the closing session of the European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen, Government’s Press office reports.
The Prime Minister, in particular, noted:
''Dear Prime Minister Frederisken,
Esteemed colleagues,
Excellencies,
Allow me to congratulate Denmark for the excellent organization of 7th European Political Community Summit. Indeed, today we have discussed pressing issues which are driving political, security and economic agenda of all our states. Building on the success of all EPC Summits, Armenia is preparing to host next 8th Summit in Yerevan.
Hosting the 8th EPC Summit in Armenia will reinforce our integration into the European family and provide an opportunity to showcase our progress in democratic reforms.
Saying this I would like to once again thank all and each of you for the granted privilege to have you all in Yerevan. For our region of South Caucasus being more connected to Europe is of strategic importance. EPC Summits have been playing also an important role in promoting peace and stability in our region. It is noteworthy, that in the margins of this very Summit in Prague in 2022 Armenia and Azerbaijan reaffirmed their respect to each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity based on the Ama-Ata declaration of 1991. This agreement was reached in the presence and active involvement of Emanuel Macron-President of France and former President of the European Council Charles Michel.
Last year again within the EPC Armenia and Azerbaijan reciprocally supported each other’s candidacy to host one of the upcoming EPC Summits.
These agreements in fact paved the way to historic summit in Washington DC where I and President Aliyev declared peace. And now in 2026 in Yerevan and in 2027 in Baku you will be visiting two states who are working towards strengthening and institutionalization of peace and connectivity.
Taking this into account, one of the key topics for EPC Yerevan will be connectivity. The implementation of Middle Corridor and unimpeded connectivity of goods, energy, fiber-optic cables between Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia is of mutual interest.
In addition, I believe that especially today it’s crucial to strengthen Europe’s ability to fight the hybrid threats we face and, at the same time, maintain the integrity of democratic governance, the rule of law, free and fair elections, and political pluralism, even in the face of internal or external pressures.
As Armenia will be hosting the COP17 on Biodiversity next year as well, we hope that EPC can also serve as a platform to discuss the green transition agenda, with the understanding that outcomes of our discussion will be later brought to the global arena during COP17.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Armenia has already started the preparations of 8th EPC Summit. And in upcoming months we will be sharing some new ideas and initiatives aiming to further strengthen and give new impetus to the European Political Community.
Once again extending my appreciation to Copenhagen, I wish to extend my invitation to all of you to meet on May 4th 2026 in Yerevan.
But we are preparing an unofficial, friendly welcome party for May 3th, Sunday evening. So I hope to see all of you there. It will be an honor and pleasure to host all of you.
