The Armenian Foreign Ministry reiterated on Saturday its readiness to sign the peace agreement with Azerbaijan in the shortest time possible.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan, reacting to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s statement that he expects the Armenian-Azerbaijani treaty to be signed in the first half of 2026, told Armenpress that Yerevan is ready to sign the agreement as soon as possible.
“When, on March 13 of this year, the finalization of the text of the Armenian-Azerbaijani agreement was announced, Armenia simultaneously expressed its readiness to swiftly sign the agreement.
This approach was reaffirmed with the initialling of the agreement on August 8, which, as an important development marking the establishment of peace, received broad international support.
Armenia’s principled position regarding the signing date has not changed: signing the agreement within the shortest possible time frame would be a significant step toward the institutionalization of the established peace,” Badalyan told Armenpress.
